DANCE DRAWINGS

Artist Karolina Szymkiewicz - My favourite medium of expression is drawing, mostly in pencil. I work in lots of different formats with a range of different subjects. 

My fascination with dance originated from my interest in human body as an art form. Over time this has focused into me being particularly intrigued with the movement of the body. With movement comes the concept of the ‘fugitive’ expression and subsequently there is an artistic need to develop a way to capture this, or at least an impression of the feeling it evokes and conveys. Dance, like music unless recorded, is a fleeting form of art and I find my challenge is to strive to immortalize its essence within a new medium. Read More →

Saw this documentary this evening. Definitely worth seeing. A radical and often amusing character, Ai Wei Wei uses his art and social media (specifically Twitter) to express and broadcast his opposition to the inhumane and illogical practices of the Chinese government.
